Chorus member
To join our chorus, please contact the Honorary Secretary - contact details are on the contact page.  You will usually be invited to attend one of our rehearsals and sing with us. You will then be asked to audition informally by singing to the Musical Director. If you like us and we like you - that's all that is needed for you to join. You do not need to be able to read music, although it is an advantage if you can! It is not usually possible to join us as a chorus member once rehearsals have started so the best time to join is for the first rehearsal of a show.

Chorus rehearsals are held every Monday at Saint Mary Magdalene church, Enfield, North London starting promptly at 730pm and go on until 1000pm - address and directions are on the contact page. Chorus members are required to attend every Monday rehearsal. Chorus members may be asked to attend occasional Sunday afternoon rehearsals - particularly as the performance dates approach.

For our two major productions each year we hold a rehearsal weekend. All principals and chorus are expected to attend these rehearsals which run all day Saturday and Sunday. Exact times, dates and locations are communicated to those involved during the first rehearsals for the relevant show.

Rehearsals for the February show begin in October, whilst rehearsals for the July opera begin immediately after the February show.

Fees - Please read
We are an amateur company and have to self-finance every show we put on. Typical costs associated with us putting on our full-scale shows are:

  Theatre hire £5000.00
  Royalties and licence fees £1000.00
  Orchestra fees £5000.00
  Costume hire £3000.00
  Set hire £2000.00
  Total (approx) £16000.00

To help defray these costs, every performer in a show (principal or chorus performer) must pay a fee. The fee is set for each show based on a number of different factors but is typically in the region of £95-£150. For this fee you get to perform in a professional theatre, with an orchestra and gain experience of working with talented directors and professional / professional standard soloists.

Front of House, Backstage and other roles
